The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
