And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
