And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 And We preserved his descendants. 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ Abraham was on the self-same way (as Noah). 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 When he said to his father and his people: What is it that you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 While Allah created you and that which you do?" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son.” 100 We therefore gave him the glad tidings of an intelligent son. 101 and when he was old enough to go about and work with him, (one day) Abraham said to him: “My son, I see in my dream that I am slaughtering you. So consider (and tell me) what you think.” He said: “Do as you are bidden. You will find me, if Allah so wills, among the steadfast.” 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 We cried out: “O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 And We ransomed him with a Feat sacrifice. 107 And We left for him among the posterity: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. 111 And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones. 112 And We blessed him, and Isaac; and of their seed some are good-doers, and some manifest self-wrongers. 113
