And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship. 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That verily they! they shall be made triumphant. 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace is upon the Noble Messengers. 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
