The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the swollen sea 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
