And Nuh! recall what time he cried aforetime; so we answered him and delivered him and his household from a calamity mighty. 76 We helped him against people who denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil. So We drowned them all. 77 And (remember) Dawud (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon), when they gave judgement in the case of the field in which the sheep of certain people had pastured at night and We were witness to their judgement. 78 To Solomon We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with David: it was We Who did (all these things). 79 And We taught him the making of coats of mail for you, that they might protect you in your wars; will you then be grateful? 80 We subjected to Solomon the stormy wind, which blew at his behest towards the land which We had blessed. For it is We who have knowledge of all things -- 81 We subdued the devils who would dive into the sea for him and perform other tasks for Solomon. We kept them in his service. 82 ۞ And remember Ayyub (Job), when he called his Lord that, “Hardship has afflicted me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who have mercy.” 83 We accepted his prayer and removed the affliction from him, and We not only restored to him his family but as many more with them as a mercy from Us and as a lesson to the worshippers. 84 Remember Ishmael and Idris and Dhul Kifl: they were all patient and steadfast. 85 And We caused them to enter into our mercy, verily they are of the righteous. 86 AND [remember] him of the great fish when he went off in wrath, thinking that We had no power over him! But then heeded out in the deep darkness [of his distress]: "There is no deity save Thee! Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! Verily, I have done wrong!" 87 So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith. 88 And Zachariah -- when he called unto his Lord, 'O my Lord, leave me not solitary; though Thou art the best of inheritors.' 89 And so We responded unto him, and bestowed upon him the gift of John, having made his wife fit to bear him a child: [and,] verily, these [three] would vie with one another in doing good works, and would call unto Us in yearning and awe; and they were always humble before Us. 90 And also recall the woman who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and made her and her son a Sign to the whole world. 91 VERILY, [O you who believe in Me,] this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: worship, then, Me [alone]! 92 People have divided themselves into many sects, but all will return to Us. 93
