(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens, and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
