The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
