By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
