The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
