Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 In high empyrean 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
