The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
