The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
