The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
