Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
