The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
