He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
