The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
