The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is overthrown, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
