Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered, 2 And when the seas are erupted 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 Each soul shall know that which it sent afore and that which it left behind. 5 O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one, 6 who created you, formed you and proportioned you? 7 He moulded you into whatever shape He willed. 8 Rather, you belied the Recompense. 9 Lo! there are above you guardians, 10 The honourable recorders. 11 who know of all that you do. 12 Indeed, the righteous shall (live) in bliss. 13 And indeed the sinners are in hell. 14 [a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day, 15 and which they shall not [be able to] evade. 16 And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? 17 Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is! 18 A day when no soul shall possess aught to succour another soul; that day the Command shall belong unto God. 19
