The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
