The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
