The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
