The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
