The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
