And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
