Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Faithful Spirit has descended with it, 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is not the fact (that the Israelite scholars already knew about the Quran through their Book) sufficient evidence for the pagans of the truthfulness (of the Quran)? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
