The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denied the best matter, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
