Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Do you not see that even if We give them respite for years 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 Never a city We destroyed, but it had warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 who readily lend ear [to every falsehood,] and most of whom lie to others as well. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
