The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Ta-Seen*; these are verses of the Qur’an and the clear Book. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 As guidance and good tidings for the believers 2 who pray regularly and pay obligatory alms and have firm faith in the Hereafter. 3 Those who do not believe in the Hereafter – We have made their deeds seem good to them, so they are astray. 4 It is they for whom a grievous chastisement lies in store; it is they who shall be the greatest losers in the Hereafter. 5 (Muhammad), you have certainly received the Quran from the All-wise and All-knowing One. 6 (Remember) when Moses said to his family: "I see a fire. I shall bring you news from it, or bring an ember that you may warm yourselves." 7 So, when he came to it, he was called: 'Blessed is he who is in the fire, and he who is about it. Glory be to God, the Lord of all Being! 8 [And God spoke thus:] "O Moses! Verily I alone am God, the Almighty, the Wise!" 9 And throw down thy staff! But when he saw it writhing as it were a demon, he turned to flee headlong; (but it was said unto him): O Moses! Fear not! the emissaries fear not in My presence, 10 "But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 11 Now put your hand inside your cloak next to your bosom and it will come out [shining] white, without any blemish. This will be one of the nine signs for Pharaoh and his people: for truly they are a rebellious people." 12 But when Our signs came to them visibly, they said: 'This is plain sorcery.' 13 And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance, though their souls were convinced thereof: so see what was the end of those who acted corruptly! 14
