The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
