He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
