Al-Qasas 6 of 9
۞ We have been sending word to them that they may take a warning. 51 Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it. 52 And when it is recited unto them, they say: We believe in it. Lo! it is the Truth from our Lord. Lo! even before it we were of those who surrender (unto Him). 53 Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend. 54 When they hear idle talk they turn aside and say: "To us our actions, to you yours. Peace on you; we do not look for the ignorant." 55 Indeed it is not such that you can guide whomever you love, but Allah guides whomever He wills; and He well knows the people upon guidance. 56 They say: 'If we follow the guidance with you, we shall be driven from our land' But have We not given them a secure sanctuary from which fruits of every kind are collected as a provision from Us? Indeed, most of them do not know. 57 How many townships have We destroyed where the people had become arrogant on account of their affluence? Since then their dwelling-places have scarcely been inhabited -- We became their inheritors. 58 And your Lord never destroyed the towns until He raised in their metropolis an apostle, reciting to them Our communications, and We never destroyed the towns except when their people were unjust. 59 Whatever you are given in this life is nothing but a temporary provision of this life and its glitter; what God has is better and more lasting. Will you not then understand? 60
