Chaos appears in the land and the sea because of the evil deeds which people’s hands have earned, in order to make them taste the flavour of some of their misdeeds – in order that they may come back. 41 Say thou: go forth in the land and behold what wise hath been the end of those of aforetime? And most of them were associaters. 42 Then turn thy face straight to the right religion before there come from Allah the day which cannot be averted; on that day they shall become separated. 43 He who disbelieves will suffer the consequence of it and he who acts righteously, they will pave the way for their own good 44 In order to reward those who believed and did good deeds, by His munificence; indeed He does not like the disbelievers. 45 for among His wonders is this: He sends forth [His messages as He sends forth] the winds that bear glad tidings, so that He might give you a taste of His grace [through life-giving rains,] and that ships might sail at His behest, and that you might go about in quest of some of His bounties, and that you might have cause to be grateful. 46 We did indeed send, before thee, messengers to their (respective) peoples, and they came to them with Clear Signs: then, to those who transgressed, We meted out Retribution: and it was due from Us to aid those who believed. 47 Allah is He Who sendeth the winds so that they raise a cloud and then spreadeth it along the heaven as He will and breaketh it into fragments, and thou beholdest the rain come forth from the interstices thereof. Then when He maketh it fall upon such of His bondmen as He will, lo! they rejoice. 48 Even though, before they received (the rain) - just before this - they were dumb with despair! 49 Look then at the effects of Allah's mercy: what wise He quickeneth the earth after the death thereof. Verily, He is the Quickener of the dead, and He is over everything Potent. 50 But if We were to send a wind and then their tilth has become yellow, they would never cease to disbelieve. 51 So verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. the disbelievers, etc.), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs, turning away. 52 just as thou canst not lead the blind [of heart] out of their error: none canst thou make hear [thy call] save such as [are willing to] believe in Our messages, and thus surrender themselves unto Us. 53
