Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 And weigh with the true balance. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
