In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or, are with them the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. 10 This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
