The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
