O apostles! eat of the good things and do good; surely I know what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave them in their confusion for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to them of good things? Nay, they do not perceive. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 And they who do not associate anything with their Lord 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it that they did not recognize their Messenger (Muhammad SAW) so they deny him? 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
