We gave the Book to Moses, but there were disputes about it, and had it not been for a Word that preceded from your Lord (their disputes) would have been decided between them. But they are in disquieting doubt about it. 45 He who does good does it for himself; and he who does evil does so against it. Your Lord never wrongs His worshipers. 46 ۞ The knowledge of the Hour rests solely with Him. Not a fruit comes forth from its sheath, nor does any female conceive nor give birth to a child but it is in His knowledge. On that Day He will call out to them: “Where are those associates of Mine?” They will answer: “We have declared to You that none of us can bear witness to that.” 47 [the deities] they invoked before will have vanished; they will know that there is no escape. 48 Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair. 49 When We give him a taste of some of Our mercy, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is my due. I do not think that the Hour is going to come. And even if I return to my Lord, He will surely reward me well." But truly We shall tell those who deny the truth [all] that they did, and shall make them suffer a hard punishment. 50 And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication. 51 Say: "Tell me, if it (the Quran) is from Allah, and you disbelieve in it, who is more astray than one who is in opposition far away (from Allah's Right Path and His obedience). 52 We will soon show them Our signs in the Universe and in their own souls, until it will become quite clear to them that it is the truth. Is it not sufficient as regards your Lord that He is a witness over all things? 53 Are they not in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? Attention, He encompasses everything. 54
