Victory (Al-Fatt-h)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
VERILY, [O Muhammad,] We have laid open before thee a manifest victory, 1 so that Allah may forgive you your shortcomings, whether earlier or later, and may complete His favours upon you and guide you to the Straight Way, 2 and [show] that God will succour thee with [His] mighty succour. 3 It is God who has given confidence to the hearts of the believers to increase and strengthen their faith. To God belongs the armies of the heavens and the earth. He is All-knowing and All-wise. 4 That He may admit the men and women who believe, to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein for aye, and remove their ills from them;- and that is, in the sight of Allah, the highest achievement (for man),- 5 and so that He might punish hypocritical men and women as well as the polytheists men and women who think evil thoughts about God; an evil turn of fortune will fall upon them, for God has become angry with them, and has rejected them and prepared Hell for them. How evil is such a destination. 6 For to Allah belong the Forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom. 7 We have sent you (Prophet Muhammad) as a witness and as a bearer of glad tidings and warning, 8 so that you believe in Allah and His Messenger and that you support him, revere him (Prophet Muhammad), and exalt Him (Allah), at the dawn and in the evening. 9 Those who swear allegiance to you indeed swear allegiance to God; and God's protection is over them. Then whosoever breaks the promise breaks it to his own loss; but whosoever fulfills the promise made to God will receive a great reward from Him. 10
