He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyful, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
