The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
