The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
