Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those that bear the burden (of the rain) 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 The Judgement will indeed take place. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And from their properties was [given] the right of the [needy] petitioner and the deprived. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 So, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, this is certainly true, as true as the fact of your speaking. 23
