The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
