The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
