The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 To God belong the End and the Beginning. 25
