The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
