By no means! By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 As a warning unto men, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
