Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
